The Graduates | Youth Action Guide

Last Updated by Catherine Hiles on

Educational attainment among Latinos is paramount in an era when they are the largest racial and ethnic minority in the U.S. Yet if high school graduation rates are increasing — including the rates for Latinos — is there any reason to be talking about a “crisis” in education? Unfortunately, Latino students have historically faced legal, social and economic obstacles to graduating from high school.

In this Youth Action Guide based on the PBS Independent Lens documentary “The Graduates,” you will learn about the challenges Latino students face in obtaining an education and explore organizing strategies that can make a difference. The guide is also designed to inspire youth leaders to educate, collaborate and co-create with their peers, their parents and their communities.
