ARTISODES on WUCF TV features UCF students bringing science and art together
This week on WUCF TV’s Artisodes, see how fine arts students at the University of Central Florida combine art and science. The 2014 STEAM Exhibition showcased students’ artwork in response to presentations given by UCF scientists and students in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. The exhibition presents visual evidence that “A” should be added to STEM to create STEAM: Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics.
The art this year was inspired by waste management research presentations by Debra Reinhart, UCF Pegasus Professor and civil engineer. “It is an industry, waste management. And it’s built of people and the reminder of that is important,” said artist Lujan Perez. She painted a portrait of some members of the janitorial staff.
WUCF’s Artisodes airs Thursday, July 26 on WUCF TV at 8 p.m.
