WUCF Announces ‘FROM BROADWAY WITH LOVE’ Concert Special
Last year, Broadway stars gathered in Orlando to help Central Florida heal and raise funds after the Pulse nightclub shooting. Now, this legendary evening will be broadcast to all of Central Florida. From Broadway With Love: A Benefit Concert for Orlando will air on WUCF TV on Thursday, June 15 at 8:00 p.m.
The show, performed and recorded at the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts in July 2016, includes some of the biggest names on Broadway, including Chita Rivera, Darren Criss, Jessie Mueller and Joshua Henry. The concert also included some of Orlando’s own, including the Orlando Philharmonic, the Orlando Gay Chorus and the Orlando Voices United Choir.
“We’re proud and honored to bring this special performance to all of Central Florida,” said Dr. Phil Hoffman, WUCF Executive Director. “It’s touching and inspiring to see people from around the world reach out and support us in our time of need.”
The Orlando benefit concert is co-produced by Imagine Orlando, LLC (comprised of Tony Award winner Kenny Howard of Florida Theatrical Assoc., Joyce Arbucias of The Imagination House, Andrea Canny of PerformerStuff.com, Chris Yakubchik of Forster Boughman and Lefkowitz), Seth Rudetsky, James Wesley, Michael J. Moritz, Jr. and Broadway Records (Van Dean, president; Tony Award winning/Grammy winning producer/co-conceiver of the first From Broadway with Love - A Benefit Concert for Sandy Hook and producer Sarabeth Grossman).
The concert will highlight a week of programming to honor the lives of those lost in the shooting. On Thursday, June 1, WUCF presents the Taking Your Pulse Town Hall. Presented in partnership with WMFE, the town hall examines Central Florida’s response and ongoing support needed following the tragic events. The town hall will air on WUCF on June 1 at 8:00 p.m.
