WUCF hosts special veterans screening for THE DIVIDE
WUCF TV presents a special preview screening of THE DIVIDE: Bridging the Military-Civilian Gap at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 26 at the Orange County Regional History Center. Admission is free, and the event is open to the public. Doors open at 6:00 p.m. Click here to register.
“THE DIVIDE” is a locally produced half-hour special exploring the challenges post-9/11 veterans in Central Florida face when transitioning into the civilian sector. From education to employment, to counseling and therapy, “THE DIVIDE” tells the stories of civilians and veterans who are assisting our military population, looks at ways our veterans are giving back to our local community and endeavors to shine a light on some of the misconceptions civilians have about the military that create this gap.
Central Florida organizations highlighted in “THE DIVIDE” include:
- Heart of Florida United Way – Mission United
- The Mission Continues
- University of Central Florida’s Veterans Academic Resource Center
- Horses for Heroes
- The Camaraderie Foundation
WUCF invites the public to the screening and to participate in a presentation from “Where Opportunity Knox.” This non-profit does work connecting veterans to jobs around Louisville and will share what they’ve done in their community.
“THE DIVIDE” premieres on Sunday, July 31 at 7 p.m. on WUCF TV. The film is presented as part of WUCF’s Veterans Coming Home, a multiplatform initiative that explores veterans’ experiences and provides resources for veterans and their families.
