WUCF TV inspires you in this month’s ONE Central Florida

Posted by Jennifer Cook on

On this month’s ONE Central Florida, experience the Old West with an authentic steam locomotive ride. Orange Blossom Cannonball takes you between Mount Dora and Tavares, and incorporates a thrilling and realistic train robbery during your ride!

“The good guys face the bad guys, and the good guys generally win and the train departs in tact and everyone has a good time,” said Richard Grigsby, owner of the Orange Blossom Cannonball.

Then, learn about a local organization giving underprivileged students free piano lessons, and even pianos. The Steinway Society of Central Florida believes all children should have access to music, and they have provided it. The organization was rated the top educational program in Florida.

“We can prove what music has done for children, we’ve been very successful,” said Gary Grimes, president of the Steinway Society of Central Florida. “The last study we received in December showed that 100 percent of the children in the program made academic gains.” This story is presented as part of WUCF’s American Graduate initiative, bringing awareness to the dropout crisis and encouraging Central Florida’s children to succeed.

Learn how riding a horse can be therapeutic and is changing the lives of many children in need. Freedom Ride is a non-profit organization offering this therapy, known as hippotherapy.

World Rhino Day is coming up on September 22.  Celebrate at the Central Florida Zoo and Botanical Gardens in Sanford.  Get some up-close and personal time with the rhinos and help conversation efforts.

ONE Central Florida airs Thursday, September 3 at 8:00 p.m. on WUCF TV.
