WUCF TV talks higher education in this week’s Metro Center Outlook
The state university system of Florida consists of 12 schools, making it one of the largest higher education systems in the United States. With more than 300,000 students and 60,000 employees, the impact on the Florida economy and the job market is huge.
This week on Metro Center Outlook, host Dr. Diane Trees sits down with the chancellor of the State University System of Florida, Marshall Criser III. Among the discussion, aligning college degrees with workforce needs, student debt and performance based funding.
“The thing that we’ve come back to is the student,” said Criser. “What we’ve recognized is that if we’re doing the right thing for Florida’s student, then I believe ultimately we’re doing the right thing for Florida’s taxpayers, we’re doing the right thing for Florida’s business community, we’re doing the right thing for Florida families and we began by doing the right thing for our students.”
Metro Center Outlook airs each Sunday on WUCF TV at 9 a.m.
