WUCF TV’s ONE Central Florida Gets Some Speed
ONE Central Florida returns this Thursday to WUCF, taking viewers inside a family tradition of Derby racing.
Meet the Potts family of Apopka, the family that races together. Follow Dakota and Dawson as they prepare for the Soap Box Derby race in Sanford.
“We try to do a lot as a family together, Derby is just one component of that,” said Ken Potts, father of the racers. “We spend a lot of time together working on the car, and traveling, and the racing.”
Then, head to Winter Park to learn about the city’s history. Find out what has made Winter Park a place for everyone. “Winter Park is unique because it’s very much like it was in early 1900s, only of course much bigger, but it’s still a beautiful community and still has that small-town flavor,” says Dr. James Clark, lecturer in the Department of History at the University of Central Florida.
Next, go inside The Mission Continues, a non-profit that works with veterans who suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). “The main focus of ‘The Mission Continues’ is really to embrace that drive to serve that veterans have so to be part of a mission that’s greater than our own,” says resource coordinator, Priscilla Kalagian.
Finally, fly into the skies on the seaplanes of Central Florida. Learn why Tavares is known as America’s Seaplane City and see how the planes have brought jobs and growth to the community.
The new season of ONE Central Florida premieres Thursday, March 30 at 8 p.m. on WUCF TV.
