WUCF TV’s SciTech Central explores Robotic Technology

Posted by Jennifer Cook on

Twelve-year-old Samantha Denslaw from Orlando enjoys the things most teens do, but until recently, her physical activities were severely limited due to a debilitating spine condition.  This week on SciTech Central, hear her story and learn how robotic technology made by Mazor Robotics, with U.S. headquarters in Orlando, is helping her live a normal life.

“The renaissance guidance system is a surgical technology that helps guide the surgeon’s hands,” said Robbie Breedlove, Mazor Robotics Training and Professional Education Manager.  “It takes the freehand element out of the operation, and adding a pre-operative element as well.”

Engineers at the University of South Florida are studying the movements of animals, both large and small, to help them build better robots.

Finally, see how NASA is using robotic technology up in space to improve tracking of water availability and weather forecasting here on Earth.

This episode of SciTech Central airs this Thursday, March 26th at 8:30 p.m. on WUCF TV.
